Bluescope Steel Scholarship

In 2007/08, scholarships will be on offer to the children of BlueScope Steel employees, giving them the opportunity to participate on an AFS Year Program;

1 x full year international scholarship open to applicants in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam to be awarded in 2007 for an exchange program departing in 2008 to Australia.

What is in included in the scholarship?

The scholarships will be entirely funded by BlueScope Steel and will cover all that is normally included in the participation fee. BlueScope Steel will cover the following expenses which can be refunded separately if they are usually at the participant’s own cost:

• Pre-departure orientation (s);
• Visa costs;
• Return domestic and international travel;
• AFS orientation (s) in the host country;
• Support of applicant and host family;
• Enrolment in secondary school chosen by AFS; and
• Standard AFS Medical Insurance, excluding pre-existing conditions, dental and eye care.

What is not included?

BlueScope Steel will not cover:

• The initial application fee, payable to the AFS partner upon application;
• Travel expenses to and from selection interviews/camps;
• Passport fees;
• Vaccination expenses;
• Liability insurance;
• Travel insurance;
• School uniform costs (if required);
• Pocket money; and
• Optional trips and excursions in the host country.

Who is eligible?
All BlueScope Steel permanent employees’ children who meet the local AFS application guidelines and:
• meet AFS international age criteria
• are mature enough to meet the challenges of living in another country
• are in good health

Degussa Scholarship
Degussa AG is a multinational chemistry corporation based in Dusseldorf, Germany’s, third largest chemistry company and the world’s largest producer of fine-chemicals. Open to children of employees of Degussa and its subsidiaries who re 17 years of age.

Beiersdorf Scholarship
Beiersdorf AF us a multinational corporation based in Hamburg, Germany manufacturing personal care products. They offer scholarsips for employee’s children of Beiersdorf, Malaysia for the Year Program to Brazil, China, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia, Thailand and USA
