27/4/2007 - Appointment of Chairman of AFS Antarabudaya Malaysia

DAMANSARA JAYA, PETALING JAYA April 12, 2007 – AFS Antarabudaya Malaysia, announced the appointment of Dr Yahya Mat Hassan as Chairman of AFS Antarabudaya Malaysia. Dr Yahya was elected unanimously by the AFS Antarabudaya Malaysia Board at its meeting in Damansara Jaya.

Dr Yahya’s appointment reaffirms AFS Antarabudaya Malaysia’s commitment to global cooperation in its mission of creating a more just and peaceful world through intercultural learning. Dr Yahya’s outstanding volunteerism spirit with AFS has spanned more than two decades. He, too, was the honorary secretary of the National Association of Smallholders for the state of Selangor for ten years.
“Staff is the Heart of the Organisation , the Volunteers are the Hands and Feet of the Organisation while Funding is the life-line of the organisation. Therefore, it is important that the Board offers good leadership and work as a team in order to relate the different functions” said Dr Yahya when he was officially appointed as the new Chairman.
Atty Sulaiman, the National Director of the AFS Antarabudaya Malaysia said, “The Board, Staff and Volunteers are very excited and grateful of Dr Yahya’s willingness to take on this challenging responsibility. We have great confidence in him and in his team’s ability to succeed for the benefit of the AFS network.”

Dr. Yahya Mat Hasan was born in Perlis, Malaysia and completed his secondary education at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar. Dr Yahya is a retiree from the education sector. He specializes in the field of microwave electronics and has a vast exposure in teaching / training, research ,publication and the administration.

His career profile includes being the Head of Department of Physics (University of Agriculture, Malaysia and the Principal of Residential College which gave him credentials to set up the Faculty of Business Management in the Republic of Uzbekistan. He has since retired from being the President / CEO of ITTAR.
