4/12/2008 - 60 Malaysian High School students making their way to Japan

Congratulations to 60 high school student whom have been chosen to go Japan on JENESYS Scholarship for 2 weeks duration.

JENESYS Scholarship came about when Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced the following statement at the 2nd East Asia Summit (held in the Philippines on January 15, 2007).

“Japan will embark on a 5-year extensive youth exchange program by providing 35 billion Yen in financial assistance and annually invite approximately 6,000 youngsters from member countries of the EAS and other Asian nations.”

AFS Antarabudaya Malaysia interviewed over 500 candidates for this program.

6 Chaperon consist of AFS volunteers and teachers will be accompanying the students to Japan. All the candidates attended a morning reception at Hotel Singgahsana, PJ on the 3rd Dec 2008. YB Datuk Dr Haili Bin Dolhan, Timbalan Ketua Pengarah Pelajaran Malaysia and Mrs. Yumiko Fujiwara, Counselor- Director of Japan Information Services, attended to grace the event.

Last year Dec 07, the JENESYS scholarship was launched officially by Mr Daisuke Yamamoto the First Secretary of the EoJ and also is the
Director of the Japan Information Service Section.
