19/1/2010 - AFS Awarded Youth Friendly Company of the Year
KUALA LUMPUR: The Youth Friendly Company of the Year award was won by AFS Antarabudaya, an international voluntary non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities for students. AFS vice-chariman Shazalyna Mohammad said the publicity generated from the award would get Malaysian youths more interested in learning about other cultures. “We have been conducting such exchanges for 52 years. We hope that through these exchanges, Malaysian youth will understand the world and local cultures better” The AYA Awards is a community project initiated by AYA, a non-profit youth development organization, which was founded to inspire young people to dare to dream and be responsible in fulfilling the dream. AYA Awards chairman Kenneth Chin said the youth who were nominated had a compelling mission to help people realize their dreams through inspiration. “The greatest thing about these awards is that they are about real people. It’s about ordinary youth doing extraordinary things, whose stories inspire other youth.” The New Sunday Times is the official newspaper for the event, while 8TV is the official broadcaster. The AYA Awards is supported by the National Unity and Integration Department.
