Intensive Program

Home stay program primarily in Finnish speaking host families. Host families can live anywhere in Finland, including Lapland. Students should be interested in getting to know a new culture and the Finnish way of living. Students can manage through their summer exchange using only English because Finnish people generally speak good English.

If you love the outdoors then Finland is the place for you. Popular sports including skiing, snowboarding, ski-jumping, hiking, sailing and even rally car driving. There are also hundreds of art and music festivals so you’ll never have a chance to get bored!

AFS also organises activities so that you can meet other participants from over 52 AFS countries to provide you with the ultimate intercultural experience!

Program includes a cruise to Tallinn, Sweden.

Finland

Imagine having six weeks in this beautiful country during the summer to enjoy daily life with your host family. Closeness to nature is clearly a national trait. The country is predominantly an unspoiled natural environment with vast forests and almost two hundred thousand lakes. Many host families will take their student to visit their summer cottage by the lake. There is an arrival orientation in Helsinki and an End-of-Stay orientation including a two-day cruise to Tallinn, Estonia, paid for by AFS Finland.
